Project: Key Technologies for Low-carbon Operation of Intelligent Energy Systems

Introduction: The project, supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and other funding sources, has developed a comprehensive system platform and two series of equipment, solving various challenges related to motor efficiency, energy conservation of central air conditioning, wireless IoT for buildings, and demand response in the electricity sector. The project applies new digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, and artificial intelligence to the management of low-carbon operation of buildings. By collecting and integrating energy data such as electricity, heat, cold, gas, water, and material utilization data in buildings, and breaking down information silos, unified analysis and comparison of energy use and resource utilization data can be conducted, which greatly improves the efficiency of building management and reduces waste of building materials. The project can significantly save energy consumption and achieve significant social benefits in terms of building carbon neutrality.

The research achievements have been referenced by more than 200 scientific research institutions in 32 countries including China and the United States. Over 120 papers have been published, including more than 70 SCI papers and 8 EI papers. More than 30 patents for invention and 10 utility model patents have been granted (applied for), and 15 software copyrights have been registered. The project achievements have been scaled up and applied in more than 300 universities across the country, including Guangxi University, Zhejiang University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shandong University, Harbin Engineering University, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, and large public buildings such as Tencent Building of Binhai and Wandamao Commercial Plaza in Hefei. It has been applied in the demonstration project of Xiamen Power Building in the new power system of State Grid, generating a direct economic benefit of 237 million yuan.
