From August 9th to 14th, the final of the "Leica Cup" 12th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students, sponsored by the Teaching Guidance Committee for Materials Majors in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, was successfully held at Zhengzhou University. Three students from the School of Resources, Environment and Materials represented Guangxi University in the finals and won the first prize of the competition. Yao Futi won the first prize of the individual, Liu Chang and Gan Xiangyu won the second prize of the individual, Liang Xueyan and Li Xiufang won the third prize of the individual, and Liang Jie, Wei Xuanchen, and Bai Xiukui were awarded the title of "Excellent Instructor".

The National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students is one of the 56 competition items on the ranking list of national undergraduate subject competitions among universities. The competition enhances students' professional skills, craftsmanship spirit, artistic aesthetics, and scientific literacy through the "competition instead of practice" mode, and also builds a good communication platform for national materials major students, guiding them to strive to become skilled talents proficient in one technology and specialized in one industry.
