School of Civil Engineering and Architecture Achieves Good Results in “Gao Jiao Cup”

On July 31, 2023, the 16th National College Students Advanced Mapping Technology & Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition, also known as Gao Jiao Cup, has come to a close. The competition was co-organized by the former Instructional Guidance Committee for Engineering Graphics Courses of MOE, the Mapping Technology Professional Committee as well as the Product Information Modeling Professional Committee of the China Graphics Society. It stands as the highest-level national event for graphical courses.

The teams from the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Guangxi University achieved excellent results in multiple categories of this year's Gao Jiao Cup:

First Prize in BIM Innovative Application of Architecture. Second Group Award in Architecture. Third Group Award in Water Resources. Additionally, several students received Individual All-Round Excellence Awards in Architecture, Road and Bridge, and Water Resources.

In April 2023, the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture organized the campus selection competition for the Gao Jiao Cup. A total of 27 participants were selected to take part in the 3rd Guangxi Regional Competition on May 27. They achieved outstanding results, including the Architecture Group Special Award, BIM Innovation Competition Special Award, Second Group Award in Water Resources , Second Group Award in Road and Bridge, and several Individual All-Round Excellence Awards. As a result, 15 students have qualified to participate in the national competition. During June to July, the 15 participants, under the guidance of their instructors, underwent 2 months of rigorous preparation. On July 28, they traveled to Chongqing to participate in the national competition and received numerous awards.

The achievements in this year’s competition reflect the results of the first-class course in Engineering Graphics and BIM Technology Information Application in the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture. It also showcases the cultivation of innovative talents in digital graphics, the establishment of new teaching modes in engineering education, and the comprehensive enhancement of students' innovation and creativity. These efforts align with the goal of nurturing outstanding engineering and technical talents for China, highlighting the effective teaching model.

The Gao Jiao Cup, in conjunction with the development of new engineering disciplines and professional certification in engineering education, establishes four competition categories: Mechanical, Architecture, Road and Bridge, and Water Resources. The competition primarily revolves around topics such as compass-and-straightedge, product information modeling, digital and virtual prototype design, 3D printing, and comprehensive BIM applications. The competition format consists of three levels: campus selection, provincial competition, and national competition. It is often referred to as the "Olympics of Graphics” due to its large scale, high level, and extensive participation. It stands as one of the most influential national university competition. In 2018, it was included in the national ranking of higher-education discipline competitions.
