The award-winning representatives of Guangxi University attends the Guangxi Science and Technology Awarding Conference

On May 30, the 2023 Guangxi Science and Technology Awarding Conference was held in the Conference Center of Liyuan Villa in Nanning. Liu Ning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, attended the conference; Lan Tianli, Governor of Guangxi made a speech at the meeting; Cai Lixin, executive vice Governor of Guangxi, presided over the meeting; Liao Pinghu, vice Governor of Guangxi, read out the commendation decision; Zhang Xiaoqin, Fei Zhirong and other leaders of the autonomous region attended the meeting and presented awards to the recipients. Feng Jiaxun, vice president of Guangxi University and other representatives attended the meeting, and Professor Nie Shuangxi from the School of Light Industry and Food Engineering received the award from the regional leaders at the meeting.

In 2022, Guangxi University was awarded 32 science and technology awards in Guangxi, including 1 Guangxi Youth Award for Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology, 10 first-class awards , 12 second-class awards and 9 third-class awards, which ranked first among all units in the autonomous region.

Prof. Nie Shuangxi received the 2022 Guangxi Youth Award for Outstanding Contribution to Science and Technology, which he has won for our university every year since its establishment. Focusing on the aim of "green development of paper industry" under the national goal of carbon neutrality, Prof. Nie Shuangxi carried out research on clean paper making and created self-powered enhanced alkali extraction and bleaching technology and equipment system, which realized ultra-low emission of AOX in pulp bleaching process. The first prize of the Natural Science Award was awarded to Professor Xiao Jianzhuang of the School of Civil Engineering and Construction for his work on "Fundamental Theory of Recycled Concrete Intrinsic Structure", which involved basic scientific issues such as the formation and evolution mechanism of the fine microstructure of recycled concrete, force damage and random mechanical behavior, mathematical relationship between multiple types of loading constitutive model and the law of bonding and sliding between reinforcement.He discovered the law of the material properties and mechanical behavior of recycled concrete, laying the foundation for theoretical development and technological innovation.
