On October 15, the Vice president of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Joyce Teo Siew Yean, visited Guangxi University to discuss cooperation. Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President of GXU, met with the guest.

Xiao Jianzhuang expressed his heartfelt thanks to Joyce Teo Siew Yean for attending the first China-ASEAN Forum for Regional Cooperation and Development of GXU and supporting the development of the University, and introduced the development of the university's advantageous disciplines and key laboratories. Xiao Jianzhuang said that since the two sides held an online cooperation and exchange meeting in 2022, both sides have been hoping to carry out short-term exchanges of teachers and students, scientific research cooperation, and joint student training programs as soon as possible to promote the cooperation process. The University also hopes to promote in-depth cooperation with UBD in new energy, carbon neutrality and carbon peak, materials science and other related disciplines, as well as exchanges with UBD on the development and promotion of standards.

Joyce Teo Siew Yean introduced the development of disciplines of UBD in recent years, and invited GXU to participate in the Brunei Sustainable Development Forum, with a view to carrying out cooperation in areas such as zero carbon emissions. UBD is willing to strengthen practical cooperation with GXU in scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation, and expects to carry out industry-university-research cooperation and research on supply chain and other topics with GXU, and to give full play to the characteristic advantages of the cooperation between the two universities in cultivating professional talents.
