1.3 Research Platform Convergence and Robust Innovation Foundation

GXU possesses a batch of national and ministerial-level scientific research platforms, including one national key laboratory, one provincially co-constructed national key laboratory, one national-level international science and technology cooperation base, two key laboratories under the Ministry of Education, two engineering research centers, two provincial co-built collaborative innovation centers, one national and regional research base, and one key laboratory under the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. Additionally, there are over 40 provincial-level scientific research platforms such as key laboratories, engineering technology research centers, engineering research centers, applied mathematics centers, international science and technology cooperation bases, agricultural good breed breeding centers, and collaborative innovation centers in Guangxi.

GXU closely aligns with national and local major strategies and has achieved a batch of innovative results in various fields including the construction of large-span steel pipe concrete arch bridges, green and efficient pulping and papermaking bleaching equipment and technology, high-concentration organic wastewater treatment, South China Sea coral reef ecological protection and island engineering construction, cosmic high-energy cosmic ray astrophysics and detection technology, high-sugar, high-yield, and high-resistance sugarcane new variety breeding, water buffalo cloning breeding, and China-ASEAN big data research and application. It has successively won multiple national-level science and technology awards, with the key technology research team for large-span arch bridges being awarded the National Innovation Medal.

Currently, GXU highlights its distinctive advantages in tropical and subtropical resource development and utilization, opening up cooperation towards ASEAN, protection and utilization of marine resources in the Beibu Gulf, and regional governance in border ethnic areas. It deepens its services for national strategies and local economic and social development, and promotes the construction of high-end talent gathering areas and outstanding talent cultivation highlands.

1.4 Location Advantages and Exceptional Living Environment

Guangxi, situated between Southeast Asia and Southwest China, bordered by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and embraced by the Beibu Gulf to the south, boasts a prime geographical position. Leveraging its unique location, Guangxi is actively fostering a science and technology innovation hub aimed at ASEAN collaboration. Situated in Nanning, the capital city and core of the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, GXU enjoys proximity to the vital New Western Land-Sea Corridor and serves as the permanent host of the China-ASEAN Expo. Nanning, with its subtropical climate, lush greenery, and year-round floral splendor, is acclaimed as the “Green City of China,” earning accolades such as the “World Habitat Award” and recognition as a national ecological garden city. Guangxi University, nestled amidst verdant landscapes and glistening lakes, has earned distinction as a National Civilized Campus.

As China strides towards a new journey of building a socialist modernization country in every aspect, the Ministry of Education, the Party Committee and Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have attached greater importance to the construction and development of Guangxi University, providing a series of policy and funding support. GXU has entered a period of infinite opportunities and accelerated development, striving to become a domestically first-class comprehensive research university with distinctive features by its 100th anniversary. We are more eager than ever to attract excellent talents and we are striving to create an academic environment and provide the necessary conditions for outstanding young talents to thrive. We offer competitive salary and benefits, on-campus housing rentals, and provide positions in the career system for talented individuals. We also provide first-class preschool and basic education for the children of talents.
