Project name: Large-scale ClO2 preparation system and key technologies and applications of elemental chlorine free (ECF)

Introduction: Supported by the National Torch Program, International S&T Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Guangxi Science and Technology Development Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation, we have the project has spent more than 10 years to overcome the core technical difficulties of ClO2 preparation system, thus breaking the foreign technology monopoly after 10 years of hard work. We have invented the integrated ClO2 preparation technology with high efficiency, stability and no solid production, ClO2 preparation technology with mixed reductants, and the multiple reinforced ECF technology, achieving ultra-low emission of AOX in pulp bleaching.

The project has broken the technical monopoly of multinational companies, reducing the investment cost of the ClO2 preparation system by 50%-70% and meeting the ClO2 preparation needs of the paper industry with different production capacities (including super capacity pulp plants with an annual production capacity of three million tons). It was industrially applied in 2010 and achieved the first export of China's complete set of chlorine dioxide preparation technology overseas in 2012, making China become a technology exporter instead of an importer of chlorine dioxide technology. This has provided technical support for the completion of the "ECF bleaching of pulp in the papermaking industry" proposed in the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Action Plan" (2015), and has effectively promoted the process of clean bleaching of pulp in China. Currently, it has been applied to nearly 20 companies including Lontar, IKPP, APP Group's Hainan Jinhai Pulp Paper Co., Ltd. of APP (Indonesia), as well as Guangxi Yongxin Sugar Group Co., Ltd.
