The men’s basketball team of GXU clinched the championship at the 26^th Chinese University Basketball Association (CUBA) Guangxi preliminary tournament. On January 1^st, 2024, at Guangxi Minzu University, GXU’s team battled relentlessly, ultimately securing a triumphant 86-74 victory against the formidable Nanning Normal University in the finals. This historic moment marks the first local top-tier victory for GXU men’s basketball team in the last decade, setting the tone for a spectacular start to 2024.

The CUBA, hosted by the Chinese University Sports Association, stands as the pinnacle of basketball tournaments among domestic universities. Spanning 26 years since its inception in 1998, each season encompasses three stages: preliminary, regional, and national competitions. The 2024 season saw an unprecedented scale, with over 1,600 universities from 32 provinces and municipalities fielding nearly 2,000 teams. From March onward, GXU men’s basketball team will join forces with Nanning Normal University to represent Guangxi in the Southwest regional matches, aiming to secure a coveted spot in the national competition.
