Teachers of Guangxi University listed on the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022

On October 4, 2023, Elsevier and Stanford University in the United States released the sixth edition of the list of the worlds top 2% scientists (World's Top 2% Scientists 2022, data source: https://elsevier.digitalcommonsdata.com). The list is divided into the Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking, which focuses on the influence of the entire academic career so far (204,643 people listed globally, 9,013 in China), and the Annual Scientific Impact Ranking, which focuses on the academic achievements of the current year (210,198 people listed globally, 23,410 in China).  Seventeen of our teachers were listed in the Lifetime Scientific Impact Ranking, the same as the previous year. Sixty-five teachers of Guangxi University were selected for the Annual Scientific Impact Ranking , with an increase of 23, or 54.7%, compared with the previous year.

The Worlds Top 2% Scientists 2022 is based on a systematic analysis of citation data from the Scopus database and is scored by using six key factor metrics including total citations, Hirsch H-index, co-authors corrected Schreiber Hm-index, solo authorship, sole or first authorship, and citations to articles by solo, first, or last authors. The list selects the top 2% of the worlds scientists from nearly 7 million scientists, categorizing them into 22 fields and 176 subfields. And the list also provides a measurable indicator of scientists long-term scientific performance that is more objective and realistic in reflecting the impact of scientists.

In recent years,Guangxi University has been taking reform and innovation as the driving force, taking the construction of "Double first-class" as the handhold, taking the co-construction of ministry and province as the support, striving to push forward the reform of the system and mechanism of scientific and technological innovation, strengthening the capacity of scientific research and innovation, and improving the level of the faculty. Being selected in the World's Top 2% Scientists 2022 reflects, to a certain extent, the strong scientific research strength and high international academic influence of GXU faculty members in relevant fields, and reflects the important achievements of the university in scientific and technological innovation and faculty construction in recent years.
