Guangxi University Makes a Historic Breakthrough in the 4th National University Students’ Chemistry Experiment Innovation Design Competition

Recently, the final of the 4th National University Students’ Chemistry Experiment Innovation Design Competition came to an end. The team from the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Guangxi University made a historic breakthrough in this competition, winning the second prize in the national finals and the first and third prizes in the South China Region. 1,076 teams from 445 colleges and universities participated in the competition, and 90 teams were selected as finalists after fierce competition in seven regions, including Northeast, Northwest, North, East, Central, Southwest and South China.

Under the guidance of Associate Prof. Su Jing and Prof. Xu Xuetang, the project Determination of Electric Potential of Primary Battery and lmprovement of Experiment for its Application-Determination of ion Mobility Number by Using Duplex Battery won the second prize in the National Finals and the first prize in the South China Region. In addition, the team under the guidance of Lecturer Li Qingyun and the team under the guidance of Assistant Prof. Chen Peican won the Third Prize in the South China Region of the competition.

In April this year, nine students were selected to participate in the South China Competition in three directions, including popular science experiment, innovative experiment and improved experiment. The contestants of GXU polished their works with heart and soul under the guidance of the instructors and displayed the sound spirit of innovation and creation, the paper chase, and overall first-class.

The National University Students Chemistry Experiment Innovation Design Competition is a national university students discipline competition hosted by the Chinese Chemical Society and the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Education, aiming to establish a platform for university students to display and exchange their innovation abilities and promote the reform of practice teaching in Chinas higher education institutions. The competition had a great influence in colleges and universities across the country since it was founded in 2019. The Chinese Society of Higher Education has enrolled the competition in the 2023 Competition Catalog of the National Competition Analysis Report for Students in Ordinary Colleges and Universities, making it the only national Class A event in the discipline of chemistry in colleges and universities across the country.
