Laos’ Supreme People’s Procuratorate Delegation Visits Guangxi University

On September 16th, Deputy Procurator General Khamphet Somvolachith from the Supreme Peoples Procuratorate of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led an official delegation for an exchange visit to Guangxi University. GXU President Han Linhai extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and Vice President Xiao Jianzhuang was also in attendance at the meeting.

In the welcome ceremony, President Han Linhai provided a concise overview of the collaboration history between Guangxi University and the Laos Supreme People’s Procuratorate. He underscored the important role of the Laos Supreme People’s Procuratorate as a significant partner for Guangxi University in Laos. President Han Linhai expressed his delight in witnessing a growing number of students from Laos choosing GXU for their studies and conveyed his hope for both sides to continue strengthening exchanges, expanding the scope and depth of cooperation, and achieving further cooperative accomplishments in the future.

Mr. Khamphet Somvolachith expressed heartfelt gratitude for GXU’s provision of training to Laotian prosecutors and conveyed his commitment to continue sending trainees and more exchange students to GXU in the future.

Subsequently, Vice President Xiao Jianzhuang and Mr. Khamphet Somvolachith, on behalf of the university and the Laos Supreme People’s Procuratorate respectively, signed a new Memorandum of Cooperation.

Following the signing , the opening ceremony of the fifth session of the Training Program for Senior Prosecutor of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic took place at the Junwu Hall. At the opening ceremony, President Xiao Jianzhuang underscored the enduring friendship between China and Laos, two socialist neighbors with deep historical ties. He emphasized GXU’s commitment to establishing a sustainable exchange and cooperation framework with the Laos Supreme People’s Procuratorate. GXU Law School will dedicate to enhancing both theoretical and practical collaboration in the field of disciplinary inspection and supervision through the facilitation of training programs for Laotian prosecutors.

During his address, Mr. Khamphet Somvolachith expressed his sincere gratitude for the support extended by GXU to the Laotian prosecution system. He also expressed high hopes for the future prospects for expanding and deepening exchanges between the judicial and prosecutorial systems of both countries. Following the commencement ceremony, Khamphet Somvolachith delivered a presentation titled New Civil Code of Lao PDR: an Overview and Challenges to Laotian prosecutors and students from GXUs Law School.

The delegation led by Mr. Khamphet Somvolachith also toured GXU campus and engaged in discussion with the International College.
