On September 20-21,2023. Professor Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President of Guangxi University(GXU), was invited to attend the 6th ASEAN+3 Rectors’ Conference hosted by the ASEAN University Network(AUN) and Airlangga University(UNAIR) in Surabaya, Indonesia. Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of ASEAN University Network, and more than 80 presidents and vice presidents of 30 universities from China, Japan, South Korea and the ASEAN countries attended the meeting.

The representatives of meeting systematically discussed topics and exchanged ideas under the theme of “The Role of University Collaboration within the ASEAN + 3 Framework of Innovation and Industry Acceleration Ecosystem.” Furthermore, the meeting also organized field trip for delegates to visit a well-known local food company Finna Food, which help representatives learn about the experience of cooperation between higher educational institutions(HEIs) and local enterprises in Indonesia.

Throughout the conference, Professor Xiao Jianzhuang had a full exchange with the delegates and introduced GXU’s academic strengths and the characteristics in ASEAN cooperation, thereby broadened the international network of GXU.

After the conference, GXU delegation actively joined hands with Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya to initiate promotional activities for attracting Indonesian students to GXU , and also contacted the Education Affairs Office of the Chinese Consulate General in Surabaya to expressed the intention to further deepen collaboration with Indonesian universities in academic research, student exchange and China-ASEAN think-tank initiatives in the future.
