Secretary-General of ASEAN Visits Guangxi University

On September 18th, Mr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), led his delegation to visit Guangxi University. President Han Linhai and Vice President Xia Guoen extended a warm welcome to the guests. Ambassador Hou Yanqi, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, also attended the meeting.

Kao Kim Hourn delivered a lecture entitled “The Future of China-ASEAN Cooperation” to more than 200 students and teachers of Guangxi University. President Han Linhai presided over the lecture.

During the lecture, Kao Kim Hourn specifically introduced the progress of China-ASEAN dialogue relations and its contribution to the ASEAN Community. China is one of ASEAN’s closest neighbors. Both sides have a long tradition of friendly interaction. Nowadays China-ASEAN relations have created one of the most dynamic and substantive mutually-beneficial cooperation in ASEAN, with increasing collaborations in various fields. Kao also introduced the events held by the ASEAN Secretariat among ASEAN countries and the role played by the sound relations between China and ASEAN in the development of various domains. Kao said that the purpose of the visit is to learn about Guangxi University, exchange ideas with teachers and students, and promote cooperation between Guangxi University and ASEAN’s higher educational institutions.

 

After the lecture, Kao Kim Hourn and his delegation had a discussion with the experts from the School of Economics/China-ASEAN Institute of Financial Cooperation and China-ASEAN Research Institute on the China-ASEAN cooperation in cross-border e-commerce, digital economy, education and other aspects, as well as his prospects for the future of the China-ASEAN Expo.
