The 2023 Southeast Asian Confucius Institute Joint Conference was held in Beijing from July 20th to 21^st，，2023. Academician Yang Wei, president of the China Foundation for International Chinese Language Education, Hadi Tjahjono, director of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Tourism of the China-ASEAN Center, Wu Jinsong, inspector of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, Hu Zhiping, deputy director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, and Duan Peng, president of Beijing Language and Culture University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Xiao Jianzhuang, vice president of Guangxi University, Pornchanit Kaew Nate, vice president of Suan Dusit University in Thailand, both Chinese and Thai directors of the Confucius Institute at Suphanburi , were invited to attend the conference.

Xiao Jianzhuang stated at the group seminar that it is necessary to strengthen the connection between the Confucius Institute and local enterprises, industries, and associations, and carry out targeted talent cultivation model of "Chinese+major"; In the process of building the Confucius Institute, we should combine the university characteristics and technical advantages of universities in Guangxi, and utilize the advantages of first-class disciplines such as civil engineering of Guangxi University to serve the social and economic construction.

During the conference, Xiao Jianzhuang communicated with Academician Yang Wei, president of the China Foundation for International Chinese Language Education, Zhao Lingshan, vice president and secretary general, and Mohamed Shalehuddin, Education Counsellor of the Malaysian Embassy in China, and expressed sincere gratitude for their support and guidance for the international exchange work of Guangxi University.

The conference was hosted by the China Foundation for International Chinese Language Education and Beijing Language and Culture University. 256 representatives from 46 Confucius Institutes and 16 Confucius Classrooms in ten Southeast Asian countries attended. The theme of the conference is "Collaborative Innovation,Steady Development". The conference features plenary meetings, expert forums, and group discussions, aiming to provide a platform for in-depth communication among Confucius Institutes in Southeast Asia and assist in the construction of high-quality brand for Confucius Institutes.
