Guangxi University Holds the second Summer Workshop on Chinese Phonology

From July 15 to 20, the second Summer Workshop on Chinese Phonology was held at Guangxi University. The workshop was organized by the Phonology Branch of the Society on Modernization of Chinese Language and jointly organized by the School of Literature of GXU and the School of Linguistic Sciences and Arts of Jiangsu Normal University.

Many phonology experts, including Long Zhuangwei  (Professor from Hebei Normal University), Geng Zhensheng (Professor from Peking University), Mai Yun (Researcher from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences), Zeng Xiaoyu (Professor from Nankai University), Zhang Shuzheng, (Professor from Shandong University), and Yang Jun (Professor from Soochow University) shared the latest achievements and theoretical viewpoints of phonology on the phonological differences between Mongolian Character Rhyme and Central Plains Rhyme, the survey of rhyme books in Ming Dynasty, the Beijing Mandarin system of Qing Dynasty and the book Li's Phonology.

With the theme of "Modern Phonology Research", this workshop aims to enhance the research interest and theoretical level of youth scholars in the field of "modern phonology", broaden their research horizons, and innovate research methods, to contribute to the inheritance and development of phonology.

More than 80 young scholars from 50 universities at home and abroad, including Renmin University of China, Nanjing University, Sun Yat-sen University, the University of Hong Kong, the University of Macau, and the National University of Singapore, participated in the workshop.
