Guangxi University organizes a study tour to Macau, China and Bangkok, Thailand

In order to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, as well as broaden students' horizons, 17 teachers and students of Guangxi University were organized to Macao, China and Bangkok, Thailand for the study tour from June 29 to July 12,2023.

On June 30, the study group participated in the lectures, "Education and Cultural Status quo in Macau" and "Spread of World Cultural Heritage and City Image" held by City University of Macau and gained a better understanding of the current development of international cultural spread.

On July 1st, the study group arrived in Bangkok, for a 12-day overseas study tour. Teachers and students participated in basic Thai language training, traditional Thai dance, and lectures concerning Thai culture, and visited universities there. They also conducted on-site visits to famous landmarks and historical sites in Thailand, such as the Grand Palace and Jade Buddha Temple. All of these experiences have deepened their understanding of the disciplines, teaching and training models of higher education of Thailand.

During the study tour, the group members also visited the Confucius Institute at Suphanburi jointly built by Guangxi University and Suan Dusit University, and learned about the Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion carried out by the Confucius Institute in Thailand. Sirote Pholpuntin and Pornchanit Kaew-Nate, President and vice President of Suan Dusit University, met the visiting group and expressed sincere welcome. He hoped that the tour in Thailand would yield fruitful results and study group members could become ambassadors of friendship between China and Thailand.

The cooperation between Guangxi University and Suan Dusit University has lasted for 15 years, with fruitful achievements in teaching and scientific research. At present, the "1+2+1" undergraduate program in China-ASEAN Business and International Business, jointly established by Guangxi University, the Office of the Thailand Basic Education Commission(OBEC), and Suan Dusit University in Thailand, has been running smoothly. The "1+2+1" China-ASEAN International Trade Dual-Degree Program and the "3+1" Media Art Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program have also been launched and implemented. The Confucius Institute at Suphanburi jointly built by the two universities is actively promoting the development of Chinese education in central and western Thailand, effectively promoting the teaching mode of "Chinese + other vocational skills", and contributing to the successful implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative in ASEAN.
