Guangxi University Hosts the 4th National Symposium on Tuberculosis and Common Infectious Disease Prevention and Control in Schools

The 4th National Symposium on Tuberculosis and Common Infectious Disease Prevention and Control in Schools, jointly organized by the Health Medicine Branch of the China Higher Education Association and the China Higher Education Training Center, and hosted by Guangxi University, was held in Nanning, Guangxi on June 16th, 2023.

Ning Xuchu, member of the Universitys Party Committee and Chief Accountant, attended the opening ceremony. He congratulated the successful organization of the symposium and provided a brief introduction to Guangxi Universitys history, particularly highlighting the nine major innovative initiatives in recent years and their achievements. He emphasized that the prevention and control of infectious diseases in schools are crucial for the health and safety of every student and faculty member, as well as for maintaining a peaceful, harmonious, and stable campus environment.

Guangxi University attaches great importance to the prevention and control of tuberculosis and common infectious diseases in schools. The university is committed to implementing the important principles and instructions on health and medical work outlined by General Secretary Xi Jinping. It seeks to learn from the advanced experiences of school health work nationwide, strengthen communication and collaboration with universities across the country, continuously improve the hygiene conditions on campus, enhance the promotion of policies and knowledge related to infectious disease prevention and control, and make new and greater contributions to the development of school health work and the promotion of a Healthy China.

The theme of the symposium is Ending the Tuberculosis Epidemic, Co-Building Healthy Campuses. In the two- day symposium, 25 experts and scholars from various fields nationwide delivered lectures and shared their experiences on topics including the current status and prevention strategies of tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and common infectious diseases in schools, reporting and handling of infectious diseases and public health emergencies in universities, intervention measures for common psychological issues among college students, challenges and reflections on the development of university hospitals, and more. The symposium aims to collectively explore the current status and future trends in the prevention and control of tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and other common infectious diseases in schools, as well as to share valuable experiences and fruitful achievements.
