On June 17, the team of Guangxi University, composed of students from International College, won the first prize in the 2nd Guangxi International Students Chinese Poetry Competition. The contest was sponsored by the Committee of International Students Education Management of Guangxi Higher Education Society and organized by the College of International Education of Guangxi Minzu University.

The theme of the competition is "Enjoy Chinese poetry and inherit the ancient civilization". 11 universities in Guangxi participated in the competition, and each team consisted of three international students. Students of the International College,GXU, namely Nong Khanh Ly (Vietnamese), Tran Thi Phuong Cao (Vietnamese) and Wang Si Ying (Malaysian).  appeared in Horse Face Skirt on the day of the competition, a Chinese traditional costume. They finally won the first prize with the highest score of 88 points after two rounds of competition.

Guangxi University is one of the first 66 universities in China to recruit international students, and it serves as the vice-chair of the China Association for International Education (CAFSA) and the chairman unit of Guangxi Association for International Education. Guangxi University has always attached great importance to the education of international students in learning Chinese culture and making friends with Chinese people. GXU also strengthens the all-round quality of international students by encouraging them to participate in various competitions and activities, so as to promote the popularization of Chinese culture and the friendly exchange and cooperation between China and foreign countries.
