Guangxi Government Delegation and Guangxi Economic and Trade Delegation Visits Hong Kong and Macao

In order to thoroughly implement the guiding spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping on making Guangxi an important strategic hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, from May 21st to 25th, 2024, Liu Ning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, led the Guangxi delegations to visit Hong Kong and Macao, attended events such as Sharing the Quality Development of the Greater Bay Area and Strategic Hinterland Construction Opportunities, signed a series of cooperation agreements, visited relevant enterprises, chambers of commerce, associations, and higher institutions, and strengthened cooperation with all sectors in Hong Kong and Macao, jointly writing a new chapter of cooperation between Guangxi and Hong Kong, as well as Guangxi and Macao in the new era. Prof. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang, Vice President and member of the GXU Party Standing Committee, joined the delegations on the visit and participated in major exchange activities.

During the visit, Prof. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang highlighted the cooperation and exchange between GXU and universities in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the construction progress of the State Key Laboratory For Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agro-bioresources and Co-Established State Key Laboratory of Featured Metal Materials and Life-cycle Safety for Composite Structures jointly built by the provincial and ministerial levels at the thematic discussion. He expressed Guangxi University’s intention to conduct industry-university-research and academic cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao. Prof. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang also signed a memorandum of cooperation on joint doctoral training and postdoctoral projects and an inter-university cooperation agreement with counterparts from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the Macau University of Science and Technology, further deepening the cooperation and joint construction of GXU with universities in Hong Kong and Macao in the field of civil engineering.
