Delegation from the ASEAN University Network Secretariat Visits GXU

On May 20, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat, led a delegation of five to GXU for an exchange visit. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang, member of the GXU’s Party Committee and Vice President, attended the meeting.

Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang warmly welcomed the AUN delegation and provided an overview of Guangxi University’s development, academic structure, educational features, and the development of its “Double First-Class” disciplines. He emphasized the university’s international strategy of “deepening ties with ASEAN and engaging globally.” He highlighted that as a core member of the China-Japan-Korea and ASEAN University Networks, GXU can utilize this international platform to enhance educational cooperation with ASEAN universities. This includes joint programs, faculty and student exchanges, research collaborations, and the establishment of international key laboratories. These initiatives aim to support the GXU’s top-tier disciplines, promote the “Belt and Road” initiative, and foster a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from GXU and outlined the cooperative development between the ASEAN University Network and the China-Japan-Korea University Network. He also discussed the current student exchange programs within the alliance and expressed his commitment to promoting comprehensive cooperation and exchanges between GXU and member universities of the AUN.

During their visit, Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti and his delegation toured the GXU’s History Museum, the Large Structure Testing Research Platform at the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the Guangxi Key Laboratory of South China Sea Coral Reef Research, and the Marine Science and Education Museum. They also engaged in discussions with faculty members from the Student Affairs Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Arts, and School of Economics, as well as representatives of international students, regarding the international internship program and related activities led by Dr. Choltis Dhirathiti.
