GXU Student Secures Top Honor at the 7th International Conference on Transport Infrastructure and Materials

Recently, the 7th International Conference on Transportation Infrastructure and Materials (TIM 2024) was held in Chongqing, co-hosted by the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals and Chongqing Jiaotong University. In the graduate research presentation competition, Mr. Ren Denghui, a 2022 PhD student from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at GXU, stood out among participants from top domestic universities, winning the Grand Prize with an impressive total score of 2164 points.

At the competition, Mr. Ren Denghui presented his innovative research titled “Design of High-Performance Fire-Retardant Special Pavement Materials for Tunnels,” completed under the guidance of Professor Li Jing. His presentation showcased groundbreaking advancements in the environmental sustainability of pavement materials and the development of intelligent transportation materials, earning high praise from renowned experts Professor Eli Fini and Professor Serji Amirkhanian. This research also won the Grand Prize at GXU’s Second Graduate Academic and Cultural Festival and the selection competition for the Third China Graduate Innovation and Creativity Competition on Carbon Neutrality.

The competition, themed “Environmental Sustainability and Transportation Intelligence,” brought together experts, scholars, and industry professionals from the field of transportation infrastructure both domestically and internationally. Participants discussed the latest scientific innovations and sustainable development in transportation infrastructure. The graduate research presentation competition attracted outstanding students from leading universities such as Harbin Institute of Technology, Southeast University, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, who shared their latest research findings.

In recent years, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has placed great emphasis on fostering students’ scientific spirit and innovative mindset.
