GXU Leaders’ Inspection of the Freshmen Welcome Site and Visit to New Students

Freshmen at Guangxi University registered for the 2024-2025 academic year on August 31 and September 1. On these dates, Secretary of the CPC GXU Committee Li Guozhong, along with Deputy Secretary of the CPC GXU Committee and President of GXU Han Linhai carried out inspections and visits.

Party Secretary Li and President Han respectively led staff groups to inspect the freshmen welcoming activities at the centralized welcome site of the North Campus, Beiyuan Dining Hall, the South Gate, and the West Campus Gymnasium. The staff also visited new students in their dormitories. Vice President of GXU Yu Wenjin, who is also a member of the CPC GXU Committee Standing Committee, participated in the freshmen welcome activities.

 

In the student dormitory, Party Secretary Li talked with new students, inquiring about their registration, enrollment requirements, familiarization with the campus, and other matters. He encouraged students to adapt to university life, capitalize on learning opportunities, and prioritize academic pursuits. He highlighted the importance of early career planning, robust communication with supervisors and peers, as well as cultivation of multi-fold abilities. Thus, students can become valuable contributors to society, bring prestige to GXU, and mature to the joy of their families. 

Party Secretary Li also stated that Guangxi University will constantly enhance various facilities and strive to establish a conducive learning and living environment for students. He then conducted an inspection of the Beiyuan Dining Hall, focusing on dining environment upgrades, meal supply, and logistical support. At the North Campus welcome site, Party Secretary Li visited each college’s booth to extend a warm welcome to freshmen. He took time to understand the registration situation of new students and offered his gratitude to the staff and volunteers.

 

At the South Gate welcome site, President Han gave a detailed explanation of the registration process to incoming students and extended sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers while reminding them to protect themselves from heat stroke. At the registration consulting site, President Han engaged in cordial conversations with new students and their parents, sharing the joy of new beginnings. President Han warmly welcomed the freshmen and encouraged them to cherish their time at GXU. President Han expressed his hope for students to engage in effective academic planning according to the attributes of their programs, establish a robust foundation in their chosen fields, develop practical competencies, and contribute to their disciplines.

At the West Campus Gymnasium welcome site, President Han oversaw the arrival of freshmen from each college and presented gifts to representatives of new students on behalf of the university.

 

The above freshmen welcome events were attended by representatives from a number of university departments, including the Office of the CPC GXU Committee (Office of the President, Guangxi University), Publicity Office of the  CPC GXU Committee, Student Affairs Department, Safety and Security Office, Undergraduate Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, and Department of Construction and Campus Planning.
