Guangxi University Organizes The Southwest United Great Bay Area New Redology Collaborative Academic Seminar

From November 10th to 12th, The Southwest United Great Bay Area New Redology Collaborative Academic Seminar and the Meeting of Authors of Studies on A Dream of Red Mansions was held in Guangxi University. The seminar was hosted by the editorial department of Studies on A Dream of Red Mansions of Chinese National Academy of Arts and China Society of Redology, and was organized by the School of Liberal Arts of Guangxi University, Literature and Cultural Research Center of Guangxi University, and Hong Lou Meng Research Center of School of Liberal Arts of Guangxi University. Prof.Dr. Xia Guoen, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Guangxi University, Prof.Dr. Zhang Qingshan, honorary president of China Society of Redology, and Huang Yue, division chief of the Department of Public Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.

Xia Guoen pointed out that GXU students had enthusiastically participated in the seminar after carefully studying A Dream of Red Mansions and submitting a number of papers that winning awards, which fully demonstrated that the students have a strong interest in this masterpiece. The convening of this seminar will surely further excavate the contemporary value of the excellent traditional culture of A Dream of Red Mansions and promote Guangxi to facilitate an in-depth development of Redology.

Zhang Qingshan said that scholars should constantly update their knowledge structure, adapt to the needs of the development of the new era, adjust the research path and update the research methodology to open up new roads, new horizons and new realms in the development of Redology.

Huang Yue pointed out that we should do a good job in the contemporary dissemination and research of A Dream of Red Mansions and carry forward the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation to strengthen the national cultural confidence, enhance the national cohesion, improve peoples cognitive competence and aesthetic taste in society and life, and prosper socialist literature and art.

The seminar also held an inauguration ceremony of Hong Lou Meng Research Center of the School of Liberal Arts of Guangxi Univeristy.

Nearly 70 experts and scholars from more than 30 universities and research institutes, such as Chinese National Academy of Arts, Beijing Normal University and Wuhan University, attended the seminar. The seminar covered domestic and overseas studies, translation and dissemination of A Dream of Red Mansions, which made a useful attempt to deepen the study of A Dream of Red Mansions.
