Co-Established State Key Laboratory of Featured Metal Materials and Life-cycle Safety for Composite Structures Holds Industry-Academia-Research Symposium at Guangxi University

On April 30th, an industry-academia-research symposium, organized by the State Key Laboratory of Featured Metal Materials and Life-cycle Safety for Composite Structures, established through joint efforts of the province and the ministry, took place at Guangxi university. The meeting saw the formation of the State Key Laboratory Industrial Technology Consultation Committee. Among the attendees were Prof. Dr. Xiao Jianzhuang and Prof. Dr. Liang Enwei, Vice Presidents and members of GXU Party Committee.

Vice president Xiao emphasized that Guangxi University has built a strong foundation for collaboration in industry, academia, and research, particularly in areas such as the comprehensive use of non-ferrous metal resources, processing of high-performance aluminum alloys, and construction of major basic engineering projects. The university has successfully fostered robust connections with businesses, forming an effective university-enterprise integration. Moving forward, GXU and its laboratories are dedicated to enhancing these partnerships, focusing on expanding cooperation, refining innovation and coordination mechanisms, promoting the sharing of resources for scientific innovation, and actively facilitating the integration of educational and research institutions with industry. This approach aims to advance the application and commercialization of technological developments and innovations.

Following presentations on laboratory’s research focus, primary tasks, and existing collaborations, the representatives from the member offices of the State Key Laboratory Industrial Technology Consultation Committee, along with associated laboratory personnel, discussed strategies for enhancing collaboration of academia and industry, transforming research outcomes, and jointly developing talent. They collectively recognized the importance of merging resources from both the university and enterprises to deepen their collaboration. By fostering a robust and efficient system of industrial innovation aligned with market needs, they aim to continuously innovate and develop the integration of scientific achievements into the industry, helping key areas unique to Guangxi gain national prominence.

The representatives of the member offices of the Consultation Committee focused discussions on specific industrial technical requirements and the commercialization of existing research achievements of the lab. They engaged in dedicated collaborative discussions with researchers from the lab's three key scientific and technological initiatives, aiming to foster deeper industry-academia-research collaboration.

Representatives from 17 entities, such as the Guangxi Branch of Aluminum Corporation of China, Guangxi Rare Earth Corporation, and Southern Manganese Group Limited, attended the meeting. They were joined by key figures and experts from Guangxi University, including those from the Development Planning Department, Department of Scientific Research GXU, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Resources, Environment and Materials, and the State Key Laboratories.
