On July 1st and 2nd, Academician Yang Weicai, the Director of the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with Chen Liyu, the Director of the National Sugarcane Engineering Technology Research Center at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, paid a visit to the State Key Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agro-Bioresources (referred to as "Subtropical State Key Lab") for research purposes. Vice President Feng Jiaxun participated in the research visit.

The head of the Subtropical State Key Lab provided an overview to Yang Weicai and his delegation about the laboratory's history, current status, notable achievements, as well as the objectives and measures of laboratory restructuring. During the academic exchange meeting, Yang Weicai and his delegation provided insightful suggestions regarding the restructuring work of the Subtropical State Key Lab, as well as some suggestion of scientific issues and research directions in sugarcane biology.

Yang Weicai and his delegation visited the Laboratory's Large Instrumentation Public Platform, the History Museum of Guangxi University, the Sugarcane Research Institute, and the Guangxi Subtropical Agricultural Science New Base. Officials and academic leaders from the Institute of Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Development and the Subtropical State Key Lab, as well as key researchers and experts, joined the research visit.
