Guangxi University Organizes the 4th China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Modern Seed Industry Development Conference

From October 28th to 29th, the 4th China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Modern Seed Industry Development Conference was held at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center. The Institute of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Industry Development of Guangxi University took the lead in organizing agricultural related units such as the School of Agriculture, the School of Forestry, the School of Animal Science and Technology, State Key Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Subtropical Agro-Bioresources, and Glycoengineering Research Center to attend the exhibition. Liang Lei, Deputy Secretary General of the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, among with other leaders, visited the  exhibition booth of Guangxi University.

After listening to the introduction of achievements in variety selection and product processing, Liang Lei fully acknowledged Guangxi University’s contribution in leveraging the advantages of higher education institution, focusing on seed industry security, serving rural revitalization, and promoting quality agricultural development in Guangxi. He also requested to accelerate the promotion of new varieties such as sugarcane as well as introduce and promote the new industry of Chinese Pepper in rocky mountain areas.

With the theme of Building A New Highland For Subtropical Crop Germplasm Innovation And Biological Breeding, Guangxi University showcased its breeding achievements in sugarcane, rice, characteristic melons and vegetables, long-an, mango, rare tree species, forage, traditional Chinese medicine, edible fungi, and other fields through four parts including basic research, technological innovation, variety selection, propagation and promotion.

It is reported that the theme of the 4th China (Guangxi)-ASEAN Modern Seed Industry Development Conference is Sharing the Achievements of the Seed Industry and Creating Brilliance Together. With a total of 360 standard booths and 19 exquisite booths, more than 300 exhibitors from all over the country and ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia participated in the exhibition. Guangxi Universitys new varieties such as sugarcane, pasture, four-season long-an, four-season honey mango, and rare trees have received high attention from seed industry peers. Its various types of edible fungi have become a firm favorite with citizens. Processed products such as sugarcane, Camellia oleifera, Chinese prickly ash and the distinctive agricultural products brought by young farmers trained by GXU has attracted people to rush to purchase them.
